Are You Distracted?

Martha was distracted with much serving. – Luke 10:40

In data collected from over 20,000 Christians in 139 countries, The Obstacles to Growth Survey found that, on average, more than 40 percent of Christians around the world say they “often” or “always” rush from task to task. About 60 percent of Christians say that it’s “often” or “always” true that the busyness of life gets in the way of developing their relationship with God. It’s clear that busyness does distract us from our fellowship with Him.

It seems that Martha too allowed busyness to distract her from spending time with Jesus. When she welcomed Him and His disciples into her home, she was occupied with preparing the food, washing their feet, and making sure they were comfortable. All of these things had to be done, but Luke seems to intimate that Martha’s busyness in preparation degenerated into busywork that distracted her from reflecting on Jesus’ words and enjoying time with Him (Luke 10:38-42).

What about us? Are we rushing from task to task, allowing the busyness of life and even work for Jesus to distract us from enjoying sweet fellowship with Him? Let’s ask God to help us diminish our distractions by making Jesus our focus. – Marvin Williams

Lord, I don’t want to miss our on moments of intimacy with you. Help me not to be so busy
That I fail to devote time each day to prayer
And reading Your Word. Amen.

If you are too busy for God, you are too busy.

Luke 10:38-42

It happened as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village, and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. She had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.”

Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen to good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

We often or always or "we are" busying all the time... task with no ends will always be there for us... however, is it God is always there for us too? Of course He is... but what about if worship Him together with others?

It may be once or twice a week for us to do so... and it is also the time that we all can really put aside everything and come forward to God... If we still doing or even thinking of other stuff, how sad it is for God?

Maybe people always think that God is always there to be for us... He won't run away... Whenever we need Him, He will be there... therefore it cause us not so appreaciate the time with God... we know that, whenever we return, He is still loving us... :P ... however, anyone ever think of God maybe feeling sad of it?

God wants us to rest in His arms... He can do everything for us... although we says that He is worth for us to do everything for Him... but we always too busy for "His sake", until certain stage that we have only little time to be with Him...

This is not God wants... Let's say, someone would like to improve his skill on playing guitar, so he attend class to learn it, for he can use it to worship God... But, this man keep focusing on his guitar skill and then playing songs for him is just to sharpen his skill but not to worship God anymore...

Many people use God's name to do something... but it doesn't mean that God like that... sometime we are just to forcing God to accept whatever we give to Him... thinking that we had do our best to make Him happy... and never think of what is His actual will...

Let's rest in His arms... Listen to Him... He can provide us everything... He just wants us to be happy and be with Him always... all the time...
