Worth Dying For

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. – Philippians 1:21

Sophie Scholl was a young German woman during the 1940s. She saw the deterioration for her country under the iron rule of the Nazi regime, and she determined to make a difference. She and her brother, with a small group of friends, began to peacefully protest not only the actions but the values that the Nazis had forced upon the nation.

Sophie and others were arrested and executed for speaking out against the evil in their land. Although she wasn’t anxious to die, she saw that the conditions in her country had to be addressed – even if it meant her death.

Sophie’s story raises a critical question for us as well. What would we be willing to die for? Jim Elliot, Nate Saints, Pete Fleming, Roger Youderian, and Ed McCully gave their lives in the jungles of South America because they were committed to spreading the gospel. Elliot revealed the heart that drove such sacrifice when he wrote, “He is not fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” The apostle Paul put it this way: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil. 1:21).

Some things really are worth dying for – and in them we gain the reward of the One who declares, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:21, 23) – Bill Crowder

Forbid it, Lord, that I should be
Afraid of persecution’s frown;
For You have promised faithful ones
That they shall wear the victor’s crown. – Bosch

Those who faithfully bear the cross in this life will wear the crown in the life to come.

Philippians 1:19-26

For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t make known what I will choose. But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

To be walking in Christ is worth to die for... well, but sometimes, people thinks that to die for Jesus Christ is someone who really do love God... not saying that they are not loving God, but we should also love Him in usual days!...

Someone told me a story, which a man loving his wife... He said he is willing to die for her... well, one day he came back home from work, then he was sitting in front the TV for football match, which he seldom watch, but that's his favourite...

Then his wife ask him to go out the shop which only few steps from house to buy soy sauce, to cook his favourite fish meal... He then ask his wife to go buy herself... but her wife then say the fish is in the pan, couldn't just leave it there... He was so angry and then say that: "Then cook other type of fish meal!"

The atmosphere between them is under 0'c... and he start think of what he said before... He is willing to die for his wife, but why he is making his wife unhappy?! somemore she is cooking his favourite food!!... since then, he realize that to love his wife is not only die for her but is just to go out and buy soy sauce!!!...

Same over here... well, I may not have such big calling like going to some place to preach the gospel or what so ever for me, but what is the thing that I can or I willing to sacrifice for God's purpose??!!... ehrm.. study well, keep the house need and tidy, have good relationship with mother, have devotion, read the Bible, love God all the time... Something that can makes Him happy... and also my responsible for doing so...

Ahhhaaa.... may God help me! I really need help as I am so unable to take control of my own... :P Dad! Help Me!!! :)
